Clean Campus Safe Campus

Recent surveys and available literature show that substance use is increasing among children and adolescents. The problem is seen across all socioeconomic groups, from metropolitan cities to small towns and rural areas, with newer substances and multiple substance use also being documented. The fact that substances like tobacco, drugs and alcohol are considered to be the gateway for youngsters to tread on to more heinous crimes, calls for a collaborative and concerted effort to tackle all factors that can expose our children to such inappropriate activities. Since children spend most of their time in the formative years in schools and other educational institutions, it is highly imperative that they are provided with the safest and cleanest campuses.

Concerned at this, the Kerala Government is launching a widespread campaign aimed at arresting the rising prevalence of substance abuse and other inappropriate social behaviour among students named 'Clean Campus, Safe Campus', the Home, Education & Health Departments have come together to give shape and implement this long-term campaign that will target students up to standard 12 in the first phase.

For the better and disciplined life and future of our Children, and to lead them in right path, for which close monitoring of Parents, Teachers, society and Government are inevitable. Their joint action is highly required In view of the full-filment of the above visions Clean Campus safe campus started in various Schools/Colleges of this district. Illegal selling of tobacco, liquor, narcotic substances and other contraband items in and surrounding of School/College premises were closely monitored and stringent action initiated by Police as per directions. For which a co-ordination of School PTA committee, Teachers, Political and eminent personalities of Society, SPC, School protection groups, School Jagratha samithis made in each School/college level and constant co-operation and vigil has been taken by Police to curtail such offences in all places. Informants are set up in college/school level to trace out the offenders and maximum publicity given to Police Toll free numbers like 100, 1090, 1091, 1033, 1093 etc to communicate quickly on seeing such offences in these areas. As such narcotic related 20 cases were detected and same figure of persons were arrested in this district so far this year.
