Women cell

Women cell acts as a centre to offer succour to women in distress. Counselling is provided to victims of abuse. It also monitors investigation of cases where women are victims. Abandoned and destitute women are taken to protective custody and handed over to homes meant for them. There is a 24 hours helpline in this wing.

Kasasragod Women Cell is functioning in District Police Office Building (Annexure) since 1996 and is headed by a Woman Circle Inspector. The Women Cell comprises of Women Police Officers and is tasked to uphold the right and dignity of Women. Women cell conducts petition enquiry and its disposal which deals with family matters, gives legal aid and counseling and also conducts awareness classes. It also assists the District Police Chief in reviewing the progress of investigation of case in which women are victim. The Cell is functioning under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Crime Branch.
